Beyond The Shaker is a company built on passion, entrepreneurship, and the love of food. Our company has an exciting story and has recently begun a new chapter.
The original concept for the company came from brothers (and self-proclaimed salt snobs) Chris and Tyler McVety of Traverse City Michigan. Both being professionals, they didn’t have the time to invest into the development of Beyond The Shaker, and knew it belonged to someone who would.
That someone was MBA Babson grad Scott Rousseau, and his wife Sarah. They purchased Beyond The Shaker in 2012 and moved it to Woburn MA. Scott continued to build the brand, establish wholesale accounts in the New England area, and also went on to add more products by creating new blends and recipes.
Scott being the true entrepreneur that he is, decided to sell his business in the early part of 2017 to pursue other ventures. Kristen Bates, a local freelance consultant and entrepreneur found Beyond the Shaker listed for sale online, and purchased the company from Scott in a private sale on February 10th, 2017.

Scott and Sarah created many lasting relationships for the business all over the area, and remain proud supporters of Beyond The Shaker’s legacy. Scott is a consultant for Beyond The Shaker to ensure the onboarding of Kristen and her team goes smoothly and the product quality remains intact.
Kristen lives in Stoneham MA, and looks forward to leading the company in its next chapter.
